Meet neighbors, make friends, build community

We hope that you’ll come to CSA pickup ready to choose exactly the vegetables you want, and ask questions, and linger, and participate. If your plan is to grab-and-go every week, we might not be a great fit.

We survey our members at the end of each season and they consistently report that the most important dimension of the CSA is being able to meet new people and make new friends. We make a point of facilitating activities that help make this happen, and we invite (and expect) our CSA members to join in with supporting this process.

In recent years we’ve held all kinds of activities at CSA pickup, like roasting veggies and making salsa in bulk, or bedazzling our work clothes, or stringing together garlands of marigolds. We like to bob for veggies and hold seed-spitting contests. On equinoxes and cross-quarter days we’ve held potlucks together, including in our greenhouses when the weather is poor. Plus, CSA members are invited to come out on select workdays to help us with some of the kid-friendly farming chores.
